Shenzhen Tower

By James Baquet

Our first PhotoShort isn't actually a photo at all. It's...well, read on...

Shenzhen Tower 1

Ever been to Shenzhen Tower?

Me neither!

Because currently it only exists in the mind (and sketches) of Dr. Eugene Tsui, an American-born Chinese architect who has (or had) an office in Shenzhen.

His very own dream factory is located in Emeryville (near Oakland), California. It has produced, among other things, the Strait of Gibraltar Floating Bridge (from Africa to Europe), and the Eye-in-the-Sky Lookout Tower in downtown Oakland (more on this one in a magazine article).

Shenzhen Tower 2

But of greater interest to us Shenzheners is the 600-meter high Shenzhen Tower project (the Diwang Building is a mere 385 meters or so), followed closely by the less well-documented Shenzhen Ecological Theme Park.

And where can you see all of these projects? Only on Dr. Tsui's web site; none of them has been built. Yet.
